Wakeboarding - An Awesome Water Sport
Wakeboarding is an adrenaline pumping water sport, which combines water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques. Wakeboarding involves riding a board on a surface of water, while being towed by a motorboat. The speed of the motorboat depends on many things, such as the rider's experience, the water conditions, the board size, etc.
The Board:
Boards for this sport are buoyant, and their core is usually made up of foam or honeycomb mixed with resin and coated with fiberglass. Also, metal screws are fitted in the board to enable riders to attach fins and bindings according to their preference. A rider may alter the fins according to his/her needs For instance; shallow fins are best suited for surface tricks. Manufacturers producing newer lines of boards are experimenting with the shape and material to reduce the drag and ensure a smooth wake boarding experience.
The Motorboat:
Although it is possible to use any motorboat that can achieve a minimum speed of about 18mph, it is advisable to use a motorboat especially constructed to meet the needs of wakeboarding. A major difference between a regular motorboat and a wakeboarding boat is the presence of the wakeboarding tower. The wakeboarding tower is normally constructed of thick-walled stainless steel or aluminum tubing.
There is a pull-point situated on the wake boarding tower, about 7feet from the water's surface. A high pull-point gives the rider more control and makes it easier for the rider to maneuver. Another unique feature of the wakeboard motorboat is that the engine is rotated 180 degrees and placed in the front of the boat. This enables better weight distribution and also ensures the rider's safety.
Basics of Boarding:
Before beginning their boarding experience, it is essential to have good quality equipment and an experienced driver. Nothing can ruin a boarding experience like an inexperienced driver! Once all the equipment is set, you must figure out which 'foot forward' you are. You must figure out with which foot forward are you most comfortable. The bindings also must be adjusted according to your height and your comfort level. The bindings must be well secured. Most boards come with pre-attached fins. You must make sure these fins are tightly secured. Long fins give a feeling of stability in the water. While shorter fins give a looser feeling and provides more freedom to maneuver in the water. Longer fins are recommended for beginners.
Wakeboarding Maneuvers:
Once the basics of wake boarding have been mastered, it is time to take your skill to the new level. Mastering these maneuvers requires patience and can be dangerous if proper safety measures are not in place. Thus, it is advisable to always have an experienced mentor and driver, and also always wear a life vest. Some of the most popular wake boarding maneuvers are:
o Fashion Air
o Surface 360
o Front roll
o Back roll
o Air Krypt

Five Steps to Losing Weight Doing the Sports Activities You Love
Like a lot of people I have a hard time working hard and staying consistent doing exercise I don't like and don't really want to do.
I know for myself that if I want to lose weight and keep it off while doing my water sports activities I have to follow all five steps below or I risk no results. If you love doing your sport why not also get some health benefits and feel really good about yourself.
Number one: Get very consistent at making time in your schedule daily or at least a few times weekly and get out and do it. With water sports it can require more effort and organization than say tennis or running, bicycling or other sports. Since most of us don't live right at the beach or have a swimming pool in our yard, we have get to the water. If the water is cold we have to get into a wetsuit and other gear to be safe and comfortable. All the action and effort of getting your self out and organizing your gear combines with your sport to help you to lose weight.
Number two: When you are out there enjoying your sport, work hard at it, set some goals and increase what you can do in the time you have so you are working as hard as you can. To lose weight with a sport you have to push and play all out as much as possible. If you are doing your sport with a buddy or a team leverage off of them by having friendly competition.
Number three: Be sure you have the right sports gear for your specific sport. It is a lot harder to play all out if the gear you have is inadequate and holding you back. You simply can't get the most push for your effort which will not translate to trimming weight.
Number four: You have to eat correctly, I used to play the game with myself that if I really played hard and put out a lot of energy then I could or deserved to eat the comfort foods like junk food, desert or just simply foods that I know will put weight on my body. I erased the weight loss benefit of performing my water sport to the max. I finally got the message that it's always the combination of the exercise and the right food choices that lose weight and keep it off.
Number five: Having fun while I lose and then control my weight is what I call a win win. Doing a water sport or any sport for that matter and also lose weight is in my opinion so much better that struggling doing something you don't like and would otherwise not do. So I have as much fun as possible, I just work hard and eat right and I know I can control my weight on a sustainable basis.
Following the five steps above as an approach to losing weight while playing or performing a sport will work with any sport as long as you are consistent and are willing to work and push toward your limits and always expand your goals.

Top Three Outdoor Water Sports
Water sports are a really fun way to get out, enjoy nature and get some good exercise in the meantime. Most sports are also very social, making them ideal for family vacations or trips with your friends. Whether your next trip is to the ocean, river or lake, you should definitely consider incorporating some of these fun water sports into your vacation.
Waterskiing and Wakeboarding
One really fun activity that you should try next time you head to a big lake is waterskiing or wakeboarding. These two sports require you to have a motorboat with a driver who will drag you around the lake as you skim the surface of the water. If you are more of a skateboarder or snowboarder, consider wakeboarding as it only requires one board attached to your feet instead of two separate skis. You will also need a very good, high quality life vest to keep you afloat before you stand up as well as when you fall.
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is a fantastic way to see and experience an entirely unique ecosystem. In order to go out on dives, you'll first need to take classes with a diving outfit as well as do a "checkout dive" in order to get certified. Once you have your certification you are free to go diving wherever your heart desires. A lot of dive outfits provide the necessary scuba gear for your dives, but it's a good idea to have a few of your own personal items. You'll want your own mask, snorkel and fins. You may also want to purchase your own wetsuit so that you have the best fit possible. If the idea of going deep under water frightens you, a great alternative is snorkeling. With snorkeling you'll get to see underwater life by just floating around on the surface.
Surfing and Body Boarding
For those of you who love the beach and the excitement of big waves, consider purchasing a surfboard or body board. For beginners, it's a good idea to go with a long board made with a foam top. As you get better and more advanced you'll begin to feel more comfortable on a short board out in the water. For body boarders, there are plenty of really great, advanced, fast boards on the market. Make sure you find one that suits your size and weight and has the features you are looking for. If you plan on tackling really big waves, look into buying a pair of short fins to help you catch the bigger surf.

4 Family Water Sports
It can be hard, with busy everyday lives, to keep a family together and bonded. Vacations are a great opportunity to work on building relationships and bringing everyone back together--unless everyone ends up doing their own thing. If you set off with a specific group activity in mind, like some of the family water sports listed below, you're able to work together on this activity and accomplish something together. The activities listed here vary in intensity, skill level, and cost so there should be something that will work for your circumstances.
White water rafting is a fun, thrilling activity that really requires everyone to work together. If you haven't done this before it's much safer to go with a guide who will safely help you through. This is definitely something everyone will go away remembering and talking about for years to come, which ensures it's success as a bonding activity.
If you're looking for something just as thrilling, but with a little less skill required, try towable tubes. These are towed behind a boat and can hold one rider, or up to a dozen. Getting one of the ones that holds multiple riders gives more of a chance for bonding. The ride can easily be compared to riding a roller coaster, fast, fun, thrilling! The only real skill required here is the ability to swim in case you fall off (but please make sure you can all swim before trying any water sports) and hang on tight to the inflatable.
If these aren't really your speed, consider a canoeing or kayaking trip. Everyone will have to work together, paddling their way down a river or around a lake, making it an easy way to bond, and you'll have fun figuring it all out together. This is something you can easily do on your own (unlike the white water rafting) but make sure everyone wears a life vest in case of accidents.
There's not a better way to bond with your family than on the water, any of these family water sports should bring you closer together while having a great time.
Looking for more about water sports safety, or information about towable tubes? Check out Towable Inflatable for all your answers.

The Columbia River Gorge - The Location For Water Sports You May Not Know About
Bondai Beach, Waikiki, the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon; do you know what they all have in common? All three locations offer some of the best water sports action in the world.
Although when you think of great water sports destinations Oregon may not be the first place that you consider, but it certainly merits such. In Oregon you will find the majestic Columbia River Gorge, a winding landscape that stretches for almost 80 miles and creates a physical border between Oregon and its neighbor, Washington. The winding Columbia River Highway provides the most spectacular drive for motorists, and avid motorcyclists make the trip from all over the country to ride along it.
But for those who would rather be on the river than simply admire it the Columbia River Gorge hosts all manner of great water sports activities. Whether you prefer a gentle row boat trip along calm waters or a hurtling ride through the wild white waters, you can indulge your desires all along the Gorge and on its surrounding waters.
Canoeing and kayaking are very popular pursuits all along the Columbia River Gorge, with guided trips available that range from quietly bobbing along calm backwaters to the thrill of crashing down through some of the best whitewaters and rapids to be found in the country, meaning that there is something for everyone, whatever their courage level.
For those whose sporting tastes run more along the lines of the X games than the Olympics the fact that the Columbia River Gorge is a kite surfing Mecca should be of great interest. Kite surfing - which can be best described as the product of Bart Simpson's wildest dreams - relies a great deal upon the direction of the winds, and the conditions in the Columbia River Gorge are considered to be almost perfect by enthusiasts, an opinion shared by legions of windsurfing enthusiasts in the U.S. who gather in the Gorge annually for the U.S. Windsurfing National Championships every August.
For the fisherman the Columbia River Gorge and its surrounding lakes and ponds is a real playground as well. From walleye to small mouth bass, wilderness lake trout to coho the variation in the fish population is sure to please even the keenest angler. Some of the sturgeons in the Gorge's waters have been known to grow up to ten feet, and catching them can be a real challenge, as they prefer to lurk deep in the waters, as they have for thousands of years.
However, if getting wet is not your idea of the best day out, the Columbia River Gorge is still well worth the trip. Along its path there are unique boutiques and gift shops to peruse and quaint restaurants to explore. Even the simple act of admiring the grandeur of the scenery all around the area is an experience in itself.
For those looking for great water sports action, missing out on the opportunities for aquatic adventure provided by the Columbia River Gorge would be a real mistake. This eighty mile stretch of water has something for everyone.

Women's Wetsuits - For Women Who Love Water Sports
Women who love to participate in water sports and activities such as kayaking, surfing, and diving need a women's wetsuit. A quality wetsuit, commonly made of 60% neoprene, prevents body heat loss and can come in various designs and material compositions for different water temperature conditions. Wetsuits trap body heat, especially when the water temperature is 68 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A good wetsuit should follow the contours of the body correctly for a comfortable feel. A perfect wetsuit fit allows the wearer to move as naturally and freely as possible while a loose wetsuit collects water inside it and can have diminished insulating ability when submerged underwater. There is no such thing as a wetsuit that is meant to be baggy.
This being said, a men's wetsuit are totally different from a women's wetsuit for very obvious reason. The male physique is not like the curves of female body. Some women prefer two piece wetsuits because they prefer the fit and convenience of two pieces. But when it comes to safety and efficiency in trapping body heat, the one piece wetsuit does offer some advantages, although one piece wetsuits can be more difficult to put on. There are also a few types of wetsuits that you can choose from including the full body wetsuits that cover and protect the arms, legs and body. Some full body wetsuits come with a hood used commonly for scuba diving or extremely cold conditions. Full wetsuits are perfect for cold water temperatures or if you plan to stay submerged in water for a long period of time.
If you are planning to buy a women's wetsuit, make sure you are getting the right thickness. A full wetsuit has to have thicker lining in the chest area to better protect the body against heat loss. Wetsuits that cover just part of the arms, the body and down to the knees is good for warmer waters but a full body wetsuit is good for colder water temperatures especially if you engage in water activities during fall season when winds are cold and water temperature drops dramatically. It is also a common misconception that wetsuits are not needed in warm tropical waters; however water easily get colder than is comfortable especially in the mornings and late afternoons. A swimsuit is not enough if you plan to surf or wakeboard for extended periods of time. But often a women's wetsuit "shorty" will do just fine in tropical waters.
For a more flattering appearance, women's wetsuits are now more stylish with a variety of color combinations that can enhances the appearance of your figure. Wetsuits for women are not purely black anymore, although it is still the predominant color. Most women also find wetsuits uncomfortable, but worry no more, since manufacturers have seen this need for wetsuits cut to fit the female form and have developed wetsuits with great designs and accessories specifically for women and even girls. Aside from the cold, if you want to protect your skin from corals and rocks while kayaking, snorkeling, or scuba diving, wetsuits come in really handy. So invest in one as soon as you get the chance before heading for the waters again. Remember that safety is the priority above anything else.

The lure of the sugar white sands and emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico draw tens of thousands of visitors from across the world each year to enjoy the area's beauty, and in particular to enjoy the water. Here is a list of the top seven water sport activities to try to get the most out of your Destin vacation. Many people anchor their boats and enjoy the beautiful emerald green waters for which Destin is known. On most summer weekends, bands play on floating stages, children bounce on a water trampoline or slide down an inflatable slide, and people spend their days relaxing in the sun. Floating restaurants and mobile food vendors complete the unique scene at Crab Island.
3. Snorkel the Jetties- The Destin jetties were constructed by the US Corps of Engineers in 1969 to protect the East Pass from erosion from the Gulf of Mexico. They consist of large rocks placed on top of one another and form a reef barrier, and have become one of the area's most well known landmarks and hottest snorkeling destinations. The jetties offer a habitat for fish and other sea creatures. The crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico provide an excellent view of marine life including thousands of fish, different species of crabs, and the occasional sea turtle, manatee, and stingray. Rent a boat and snorkel gear and check out this snorkel destination, or take a snorkel tour.

Destin sunsets are truly beautiful and are even more enjoyable to watch from the water. On Thursday nights during the summer months, there are firework displays over the Destin Harbor, and the picturesque views of the sunset are replaced with the bright bursts of color against the night sky. Water Sports For Kids
For kids, water sports are adventurous and fun filled. But safety has to be given first priority. All kids should compulsorily wear life jackets, even if kids know how to swim. All boats and rafts should also carry extra life jackets, whistle and lifebuoys. Don't forget to carry your life jackets while you get into the boat. Always you need to follow what your instructor or guide says. Sailing is adventurous when the wind is good. Once you have enough practice, you can begin to participate in your local sailing competitions! If you want an adventurous water sport, then sailing has to be your first choice! Most nature loving kids will choose scuba diving, where kids will be able to learn more about the fascinating world of animals and it also helps them to develop empathy towards animals. Surfing is an excellent exercise and a superb family sport. Surfing is also a great outdoor sport during a sunny day or during summers. Swimming is the most favorite sport for many children and as well as for adults, it doesn't matter if you swim in a lake, ocean, river, pool or with any competitive swimmers or friends; swimming is always enjoyable. But make sure the water is clean. If you are a beginner or a learner, then stay away from the depth. Wear goggles, ear plugs and a swim cap while swimming and you need to avoid swimming after heavy food. Apart from these water sports, you can even play water basketball and volleyball which is even more fun and exciting.

Choosing The Right Water Sports Towable
Water Sports Towables are quickly becoming the favorite water sports activity for teens, adults and families alike. Because there is actually very little skill involved, grabbing an exciting speed ride on a watersports towable (aka tubing towables) can be enjoyed by fun seekers of all ages and sizes.
So how do you know which Water Sports Towable is right for you and your family?
Today the exciting variety of choices of hot new designs of water tubing towables and are seemingly endless. They run the spectrum from the simple traditional round donut shape to the more aerodynamic V-shapes, elongated or side-by-side ride-on shapes that hold several riders at once or the round ride-ons that also spin for the ultimate in water fun. Therefore, knowing what kind of ride you want to experience can help you to choose the right tubing towable for you.
Another thing to consider before choosing your watersports towable is how many riders you'll have at any time. It's really not considered a good ride or best safety standards to have only one rider on a 3 person water towable for example. And, obviously, you don't want to overload a water sports towable with too many people or extra weight as it would put too much strain on the handle grips, tow ropes and stress points of the tubing towable-making the ride unsafe.
If you want to make this a family experience however, there are some great water sports towables that seat 3, 4 even 5 riders at once and are an awesome way to spend a weekend at the lake with family and friends.
Age of your riders is also an important consideration in deciding on the water sports towable that is right for your family. For younger children, there are several water towable designs available that allow riders to sit on an inflated floor in a cockpit giving them a much more stable and safer feeling ride. Also, bigger tubing towables tend to give a slower ride through the water due to their drag, again, giving a safer feeling for the younger rider.
Older teens or adults, however, may want a more thrill packed experience and a watersports towable that is lighter, V-shaped and made for one rider can give them the speed and excitement they crave.
In choosing your towable, don't forget to think about what you'll be using to pull it with. Tubing towables can be pulled easily by motor boats and most jet skis. But, depending on the size and weight of your water sports towable and the additional weight of your riders, your ride experience can be greatly affected. Always follow the safety recommendations in the owner's manual of your tubing towable as to weight limits and restrictions.
There are many important factors to consider in choosing the right water sport towable for you and your family. Sometimes, though, it all boils down to personal preference. The graphics on the tubing towables that are on the market today are amazing and the color choices are fantastic. There is certainly no shortage of spectacular designs to choose from: Primary colors? Neon? The one that matches your boat or jet ski? Whichever one you choose, you and your friends and family are sure to have endless hours of fun on your new watersports towable.
www.PlayfulInflatables.com offers a large variety of fun designs of water sports towables as well as above ground pools, inflatable swimming pools and pool floats, games, slides & water trampolines to keep your family cool and happy this season.
