Wakeboarding - An Awesome Water Sport
Wakeboarding is an adrenaline pumping water sport, which combines water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques. Wakeboarding involves riding a board on a surface of water, while being towed by a motorboat. The speed of the motorboat depends on many things, such as the rider's experience, the water conditions, the board size, etc.
The Board:
Boards for this sport are buoyant, and their core is usually made up of foam or honeycomb mixed with resin and coated with fiberglass. Also, metal screws are fitted in the board to enable riders to attach fins and bindings according to their preference. A rider may alter the fins according to his/her needs For instance; shallow fins are best suited for surface tricks. Manufacturers producing newer lines of boards are experimenting with the shape and material to reduce the drag and ensure a smooth wake boarding experience.
The Motorboat:
Although it is possible to use any motorboat that can achieve a minimum speed of about 18mph, it is advisable to use a motorboat especially constructed to meet the needs of wakeboarding. A major difference between a regular motorboat and a wakeboarding boat is the presence of the wakeboarding tower. The wakeboarding tower is normally constructed of thick-walled stainless steel or aluminum tubing.
There is a pull-point situated on the wake boarding tower, about 7feet from the water's surface. A high pull-point gives the rider more control and makes it easier for the rider to maneuver. Another unique feature of the wakeboard motorboat is that the engine is rotated 180 degrees and placed in the front of the boat. This enables better weight distribution and also ensures the rider's safety.
Basics of Boarding:
Before beginning their boarding experience, it is essential to have good quality equipment and an experienced driver. Nothing can ruin a boarding experience like an inexperienced driver! Once all the equipment is set, you must figure out which 'foot forward' you are. You must figure out with which foot forward are you most comfortable. The bindings also must be adjusted according to your height and your comfort level. The bindings must be well secured. Most boards come with pre-attached fins. You must make sure these fins are tightly secured. Long fins give a feeling of stability in the water. While shorter fins give a looser feeling and provides more freedom to maneuver in the water. Longer fins are recommended for beginners.
Wakeboarding Maneuvers:
Once the basics of wake boarding have been mastered, it is time to take your skill to the new level. Mastering these maneuvers requires patience and can be dangerous if proper safety measures are not in place. Thus, it is advisable to always have an experienced mentor and driver, and also always wear a life vest. Some of the most popular wake boarding maneuvers are:
o Fashion Air
o Surface 360
o Front roll
o Back roll
o Air Krypt

Five Steps to Losing Weight Doing the Sports Activities You Love
Like a lot of people I have a hard time working hard and staying consistent doing exercise I don't like and don't really want to do.
I know for myself that if I want to lose weight and keep it off while doing my water sports activities I have to follow all five steps below or I risk no results. If you love doing your sport why not also get some health benefits and feel really good about yourself.
Number one: Get very consistent at making time in your schedule daily or at least a few times weekly and get out and do it. With water sports it can require more effort and organization than say tennis or running, bicycling or other sports. Since most of us don't live right at the beach or have a swimming pool in our yard, we have get to the water. If the water is cold we have to get into a wetsuit and other gear to be safe and comfortable. All the action and effort of getting your self out and organizing your gear combines with your sport to help you to lose weight.
Number two: When you are out there enjoying your sport, work hard at it, set some goals and increase what you can do in the time you have so you are working as hard as you can. To lose weight with a sport you have to push and play all out as much as possible. If you are doing your sport with a buddy or a team leverage off of them by having friendly competition.
Number three: Be sure you have the right sports gear for your specific sport. It is a lot harder to play all out if the gear you have is inadequate and holding you back. You simply can't get the most push for your effort which will not translate to trimming weight.
Number four: You have to eat correctly, I used to play the game with myself that if I really played hard and put out a lot of energy then I could or deserved to eat the comfort foods like junk food, desert or just simply foods that I know will put weight on my body. I erased the weight loss benefit of performing my water sport to the max. I finally got the message that it's always the combination of the exercise and the right food choices that lose weight and keep it off.
Number five: Having fun while I lose and then control my weight is what I call a win win. Doing a water sport or any sport for that matter and also lose weight is in my opinion so much better that struggling doing something you don't like and would otherwise not do. So I have as much fun as possible, I just work hard and eat right and I know I can control my weight on a sustainable basis.
Following the five steps above as an approach to losing weight while playing or performing a sport will work with any sport as long as you are consistent and are willing to work and push toward your limits and always expand your goals.

Top Three Outdoor Water Sports
Water sports are a really fun way to get out, enjoy nature and get some good exercise in the meantime. Most sports are also very social, making them ideal for family vacations or trips with your friends. Whether your next trip is to the ocean, river or lake, you should definitely consider incorporating some of these fun water sports into your vacation.
Waterskiing and Wakeboarding
One really fun activity that you should try next time you head to a big lake is waterskiing or wakeboarding. These two sports require you to have a motorboat with a driver who will drag you around the lake as you skim the surface of the water. If you are more of a skateboarder or snowboarder, consider wakeboarding as it only requires one board attached to your feet instead of two separate skis. You will also need a very good, high quality life vest to keep you afloat before you stand up as well as when you fall.
Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is a fantastic way to see and experience an entirely unique ecosystem. In order to go out on dives, you'll first need to take classes with a diving outfit as well as do a "checkout dive" in order to get certified. Once you have your certification you are free to go diving wherever your heart desires. A lot of dive outfits provide the necessary scuba gear for your dives, but it's a good idea to have a few of your own personal items. You'll want your own mask, snorkel and fins. You may also want to purchase your own wetsuit so that you have the best fit possible. If the idea of going deep under water frightens you, a great alternative is snorkeling. With snorkeling you'll get to see underwater life by just floating around on the surface.
Surfing and Body Boarding
For those of you who love the beach and the excitement of big waves, consider purchasing a surfboard or body board. For beginners, it's a good idea to go with a long board made with a foam top. As you get better and more advanced you'll begin to feel more comfortable on a short board out in the water. For body boarders, there are plenty of really great, advanced, fast boards on the market. Make sure you find one that suits your size and weight and has the features you are looking for. If you plan on tackling really big waves, look into buying a pair of short fins to help you catch the bigger surf.
